Kyoto University Shirahama Aquarium

Kyoto University Shirahama Aquarium is a university-run aquarium in Wakayama that focuses on marine life from around Shirahama. It is especially known for its strong invertebrate displays and keeps about 500 species on view year-round, including crabs, starfish, and giant trevallies. Rather than aiming for flashy spectacle, it offers a calm, thoughtful way to understand Shirahama's sea more deeply.
